Historical archaeologist Zev Cossin explains this exciting subfield of archaeology. Note that since recording his presentation Zev obtained his PhD at the University of Illinois and now teaches at American University in Washington, D.C. Zev’s primary research is conducted in Ecuador where he investigates the social and ecological transformations of highland landscapes during Spanish colonization and the enduring effects for Indigenous communities today. Zev also has excavated historic sites in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States, in the Caribbean, and Peru. And in his presentation you will see references to New Philadelphia.
